Tyre Load Index Chart
Tyre Load Index Explained – What You Need to Know!
The tyre load index is a numerical value that tells you how much weight each tyre can safely carry. This is measured in kilograms (kg) and is crucial when buying new tyres.
Quick Tip: Load index and speed rating go hand in hand—always check both before making a purchase!

How to Read Your Tyre’s Load Index
You’ll find the load index on the sidewall of your tyre, usually after the diameter reading, and just before the speed rating.
Example: 205/55 R16 91V
- 91 = Load index (indicates weight capacity per tyre)
- V = Speed rating (indicates max speed the tyre can handle)
Check your vehicle’s user manual for the recommended load index that suits your car’s weight and driving needs.
What Does “XL” Mean?
If you see XL on your tyre, it means Extra Load. These reinforced tyres are designed for heavier vehicles and can handle higher air pressure, increasing their load capacity.
Best for: SUVs, vans, and vehicles carrying extra weight.
