Tyre and Wheel Rotation
Generally speaking, tyre and wheel rotation is the practice of swapping around the front and back tyres and wheels of a vehicle at pre-defined intervals (i.e. rotating the front wheels and tyres to the rear, and vice versa).
Factors that contribute to uneven and premature tyre wear include:
- Unequal weight distribution on the front and rear axles
- Excessive tyre wear on those tyres steering, braking or propelling the vehicle, compared to those tyres less actively involved in controlling vehicle dynamics
It is important to note that tyre rotation is not always possible due to differing front and rear sizes on certain vehicles. Conventional tyre rotation may also not be applicable to vehicles with all wheel drive systems or 4x4 drive systems. Please refer to vehicle manufacturer specifications.
